November 2012 Championship Team Update

First off I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by lots of family/friends and love/warmth.

Secondly….What a GREAT November it was for my “Championship Team”.

Paola Longoria won BOTH LPRT Tier 1 pro-stops, November 2-4, at Albierto Mexicano de Racquetas, in Toluca, MX and November 16-18, at the Washington Athletic Club, in Seattle, WA to keep her undefeated record alive at 38-0 since the 2011 season began. She is by far the most dominant player on tour right now beating everyone she comes up against-Rhonda Rajsich in MX in 3 games straight and Adrienne Fisher in WA, also in 3 games straight. After leaving Seattle, WA, Paola took a break and went down to TX to spend Thanksgiving with her boyfriend and his family before heading back to MX to get ready for the Christmas Classic in Arlington, VA.

Rocky Carson finished in the semi-finals November 2-4, at the Davidson Athletic Club, in Davidson, MI in the Red Swain Shootout after losing a tough match, 10-12 in the 5th against Alvaro Beltran. Rocky was down 0-2 in games and played extremely well to come back against Alvaro and tie up the match 2 games each to force a tie-breaker. It went back and forth in the fifth and Rocky was serving 10-9 for the match, but just couldn’t close it out and Alvaro squeaked it out 12-10. Rocky headed home after leaving MI to spend Thanksgiving with his family in So. CA and then get ready for the NJ Open in Fairfield, NJ December 13-16.

My Championship Jr. Team all went to the IRF XXIV World Junior Racquetball Championships at the Spectrum Club in Canoga Park, CA, November 10-17. Congratulations to the entire US Junior National Team (and the coaching staff led by Head Coach Kelly Bean) for finishing 2nd overall, a Silver Medal; the Boy’s Team finishing 1st , a Gold Medal; and the Girl’s Team finishing 3rd, a Bronze Medal. My players played an integral part in all of the team medals as well as winning some individual medals for themselves…Jordan Cooperrider took 3rd in Girl’s 14 & U Doubles, a Bronze Medal, Lexi York took 3rd in the Girl’s 16 & U Doubles, a Bronze Medal, Connor Laffey made it to the main draw in the Boy’s 16 & U, and Brian Barberis took 2nd in the Boy’s 10 & U Singles, a Silver Medal. I am so PROUD of all of them for playing their hearts out for their country and themselves. The next stop for the National Junior Team is the Junior National Championships in Des Moines, IA at the end of June, 2013. Lots of hard work ahead of us to get ready for the Junior National Championships.

Lastly, enjoy the Holiday Season that is upon us and I will share with you the results of my, “Championship Team” in the December 2012 Update.
